Morat
Colombia
Morat are one of Colombia’s leading pop-folk groups, known for their acoustic guitars, emotional lyrics and ability to fuse folk roots with contemporary pop.
Their breakthrough came in 2015 with Mi nuevo vicio, a collaboration with Paulina Rubio that topped the radio charts in Spain (and was overall second in the single charts). The song well and truly put them on the international map.
Their debut album Sobre el amor y sus efectos secundarios (2016) turned that breakthrough into lasting success. With songs like Cómo te atreves and Cuánto me duele, they became a phenomenon across Spain and Latin America. This success was followed up with a successful collaboration with Álvaro Soler for the Despicable Me 3 film.
With Balas perdidas (2018), Morat proved they were here to stay. The record produced several hit singles, topped charts in Spain and Latin America, and confirmed their reputation as one of the defining Spanish-language pop acts of their generation. The album went on to be certified platinum in Spain and diamond in Mexico. By this point they were filling arenas and becoming a global success story.
Since then, their music has only travelled further. Collaborations with artists like Juanes, Duki and Feid reflect their reach across genres, while their songs continue to soundtrack the lives of millions of fans worldwide.
Over less than a decade, Morat have collected platinum records, Grammy nominations and a global fanbase. The band's impact lies in bringing a distinctly Colombian take on folk-pop to the mainstream and building a catalogue of songs that balance intimacy with universality.
