Thalía

Mexico

Thalía is one of the most iconic figures in Latin music and entertainment, celebrated for her vibrant career spanning over three decades. Known for her distinctive voice, captivating performances, and infectious charisma, the Mexican superstar has made a lasting mark not only in music but also as an actress in the world of telenovelas.

Thalía rose to fame in the early 1990s as both a singer and a telenovela actress, solidifying her place in Latin pop culture. Her roles in the "María Trilogy" — María Mercedes, Marimar, and María la del Barrio — were particularly noteworthy, and her portrayal of strong-willed, resilient female leads resonated with millions across Latin America and beyond. These telenovelas were not only hugely popular but also helped bring the genre to an international audience. Her work on screen earned her significant recognition, making her one of the most beloved faces on television during the height of the telenovela craze.

Although Thalía's rise to fame is largely attributed to acting, her enduring and successful singing career has been equally remarkable. Over the years, she has released 20 albums, seamlessly adapting to the shifts in the music industry—from being successful in the physical album sales market to thriving in the digital and streaming eras.

Some of Thalía's most iconic hits, such as "Amor a la Mexicana", "Piel Morena", and "Arrasando", carry strong themes of mexicanidad, celebrating Mexican culture, pride, and identity. "Amor a la Mexicana" became a global anthem, blending traditional Mexican sounds with a pop flair, symbolising Thalía's pride in her heritage. "Piel Morena" embraced themes of empowerment and beauty, reflecting the strength of Latin women, while "Arrasando" celebrated personal triumphs and overcoming challenges, making it a resonant anthem of resilience for her fans.

Musically, Thalía has continued to push boundaries and collaborate with today’s hottest stars. In 2016, she teamed up with Colombian superstar Maluma on the hit single "Desde Esa Noche", which became a chart-topping success and introduced her sound to a new generation of fans. Following this, she released the hit single, "No Me Acuerdo", with Dominican artist Natti Natasha, which received over 1 billion streams on YouTube. The collaboration fused reggaeton and Latin pop, showcasing Thalía’s ability to stay relevant while embracing contemporary genres and styles.

In 2018, Thalía once again captured the spotlight, though this time in an unexpected and playful way. She went viral when she mistakenly thought an Instagram live session was a video call, sparking the now-famous phrase, "me oyen, me escuchan, me sienten." The meme became a sensation, with radio stations and social media users embracing it, turning the clip into a cultural phenomenon. Thalía, always game for fun, released a tongue-and-cheek song featuring clips from the viral moment, further endearing her to fans.

While Thalía is a household name in Latin America and the Spanish-speaking world, she also has a recurring presence in the English-speaking world during the holiday season. Her festive duet with Michael Bublé on "Feliz Navidad" has become a beloved Christmas classic, keeping her voice and charm in the hearts of fans every year.
