Hola, soy Chris - Spanish subject leader, GCSE examiner, teacher-trainer, e-learning expert and fully-qualified teacher with years of real-world classroom and online experience.

I am delighted to announce that my Spanish Step 1, Beginners A0-A1 Course has launched!

I’ve always wanted to give anyone seeking a more academic path into Spanish a place that’s both helpful and affordable. After years of teaching thousands of English-speaking learners, I kept watching them hit the same roadblocks whenever they tried to study on their own, so I finally decided to build the course I knew they needed.

Those recurring frustrations included:

  • Apps that spit out odd, computer-generated sentences no one actually says;

  • Flashcard tools that make you memorise words in isolation, without any context;

  • “Courses” put together by people who’ve never taught Spanish to English speakers - sometimes by people who aren’t even qualified teachers at all;

  • Claims of “fluent in two weeks” that only end in frustration and unrealistic expectations;

  • Content that doesn’t line up with school or university syllabuses, so it’s no help studying in preparation for an exam.

So I built Spanish Step 1 to avoid those traps and give you a clear, teacher-guided start to solid, long-lasting Spanish.

Quick Course Snapshot:

  • 30 themed lessons across 4 modules;

  • 400 steps including interactive activities with instant feedback;

  • 150+ video guides (cartoons for listening consolidation, check-ins, full grammar explanations, common pitfall highlights and lesson summaries);

  • 30-50 hours of study time, (including you consolidating your learning outside of the lessons)

  • 4 full lessons free for seven days - no card, no catch, check out the 4 sample lessons to get a real taste of what the course is like.

Why Spanish Step 1 Leads to Long-Term Learning :

  1. Scaffolded lessons - your learning ladder

    Every lesson is scaffolded (teacher-speak for “built in carefully graded steps".) We start with simple bricks of meaning, add the mortar of grammar, and keep raising the structure until you can stand on your own and use the language independently.

  2. Crystal-clear, English-first explanations

    I flag the trip-wires English speakers tend to hit - false friends, adjective order, gender changes, ser vs estar, and more - so you don’t have to find them the hard way.

  3. Context Learning

    New content is taught in context - and builds on prior knowledge - so you don't learn random sentences like "the dog eats a hat", with no understanding of the grammar.

  4. Instant feedback

    Corrections pop up the moment you answer, sometimes with explanations of why you were wrong, to fill in any knowledge gaps and being able to move on quickly.

  5. Built-in reviews

    Checkpoints nudge you to revisit vocabulary and grammar right before you use it, which locks the knowledge into long-term memory.

  6. Tangible progress you can feel

    By the end of Lesson 30 you should be able to introduce yourself, chat about hobbies, describe your home and neighbourhood, talk about your 9-5 (school or work) and say what you are going to do in the near future in Spanish.
